The piece is also based on the guitar style of Ali Farka Toure who was from Mali. The sounds of Chicago Blues combine with the West African kora in this piece as well.

After returning from a successful tour to India, members of Surabhi Ensemble and Las Guitarras de España will come together for a global music and dance performance with the release of new music. The album titled “Guitarra Trotamundos” or “Globe Trotting Guitar” celebrates years of travel, study, teaching and performance to countries such as Vietnam, Spain, Portugal, Senegal, Mexico and India. The title is also a nod to the members of Surabhi Ensemble who have taking to jogging in various places with recent appearances in the Mumbai and Boston Marathons. This evening of music and dance is guaranteed to inspire with surprises and collaborating artists including Abdoulaye Conde (Kora - Guinea), Juan Dies and Lorena Iniguez (Sones de Mexico), Patricia Ortega (Las Guitarras de España), Kinnari Vora and Leticia Aravena (Indian and flamenco dance traditions), Chiara Mangiameli (USA/Italia), Ronnie Malley (Oud/Vocals - Arabic traditions) and Carlo Basile (Spanish Guitar/Chicago)

Back by popular demand, the Surabhi Ensemble combines Mexican and Spanish music traditions along with Indian rhythms, bringing together dance forms such as flamenco, Mexican folk dance, and Indian percussion for an unforgettable afternoon. Having recently completed an international tour with a showcase concert hosted by the Prince of Gujarat, this ensemble returns to Highland Park with a brand new work featuring artistic lanterns, dancing, and exciting new music that originally debuted in Vietnam earlier this year.

SURABHI ENSEMBLE GLOBAL PEACE TOUR
The Surabhi Ensemble is a global cross cultural collaborative project featuring artists with roots from India, Africa, the Middle East and Spain. Members of this ensemble have toured the world to spread a positive message of peace and understanding through music and dance.
